Sales Policy
Feel free to contact us if you have ANY questions about our goats, or our sales policy. If you are curious about starting a herd of your own. We are happy to discuss your needs, concerns, and desires, to help you on your way to the wonderful world of goat ownership!
Our commitment to our animals does not end when they leave the farm. We are always here to help answer any questions you may have about goat care, and husbandry, and we always enjoy getting updates on how our animals are doing in their new homes!
We want you to be happy with your purchase and we want the goats that we have poured so much of our lives into, to go to good homes. That is why we have a sales policy to govern the sale of our goats.
Please note that we will not sell you our goats if you do not currently have goats on your farm, unless you purchase two goats (wethers make great companions). Goats are herd animals and need the companionship of other goats (humans, dogs, chickens just don't count).
We sell animals that are healthy at the time of purchase or transfer. A purchaser has the right to a full Veterinary examination at his/her expense on any animals to be purchased before they leave here. We will not assume any responsibility for the health of an animal purchased from us beyond the time it leaves our farm. The risk of loss transfers to new owners once the animal leaves our farm.
Our herd is tested annually, and is negative for: CL, CAE, Johne's, and Q fever. We can show proof of a clean herd if requested.
Prices are subject to change at anytime unless previously agreed on by both parties.
Purchasing Goat Kids: We like to keep things simple. We don't require a deposit to reserve unborn kids. Simply let us know what pairing you would like to be on the waitlist for and I will notify you of any available kids before we market them to the public. We reserve the right to retain any goat for our own breeding program at any time up until the goat leaves our farm (Deposit and any payment that has been made will be refunded if that happens). This would be an extremely rare case, such as if we suddenly lost one of our key breeding does and needed to retain her genetics for the future of our herd. Once you are notified of an available kid you will have 48 hours to let us know if you would like to make a purchase, at which point we will require a 50% deposit to hold the kid for you until weaning. Once you have agreed to make a purchase you will have one week to send a deposit, or you will forfeit your reservation and we will contact the next person on the list. In the event that something happens to the kid you have reserved, between the time that the deposit was received and pickup, your deposit will be completely refunded, or towards another kid. Whichever you prefer. Our kids are dam raised, but well socialized and will be disbudded (unless naturally polled). Our kids are sold with ADGA and AGS registration applications, unless purchased unregistered. We also cannot guarantee that a goat we sell will not grow scurs, we try our best to disbud them properly but sometimes in spite of our best efforts, they still grow scurs (especially the bucks).
Purchasing Adult Goats: A 50% deposit will hold an adult goat until pickup. Adult goats need to be picked up within 4 weeks and the balance paid in full by the time of pickup. If they are not picked up within the 4 week time period or the date that was specialty agreed on outside the normal 4 week period. Then the buyer loses their hold on that goat as well as the deposit. We do not usually sell a doe bred. However if a doe is sold as exposed/bred, she is not guaranteed to be bred. Pregnant does MUST be picked up at least 8 weeks before their due date (I recommend 3 months), or else we will not allow the doe to leave our farm, and any payment towards this doe will be refunded.
Payment/Transport: We prefer payment in cash, but will accept cash app, and venmo. Any and all costs associated with shipping/transportation are the responsibility of the buyer. Transportation and all shipping arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. Currently we do not airship. If you back out for any reason then your deposit and any other payments made up to that point will be forfeited and the goat will be re-listed for sale. While I hope to never feel the need to do so, I reserve the right to refuse any sale without explanation (your deposit would be gladly refunded of course). All goats are sold as healthy at time of departure. No other guarantees are made to the future health, height, weight, udder, or quality of the animal being sold.
After Sale/Home Care: Any time that a goat transfers to a new home is a stressful time for them. This is especially difficult for kids who have recently been weaned. The stress can effect their immune systems, their appetites, and behavior.
You may experience any of these issues or none of these issues. We can not guarantee that adjusting to their new home will always be easy for them, but we do our best to prepare them and prepare you. With that said, we will give them a coccidia preventive, CDT vaccination, and dewormed if needed or asked for before pickup. If you have questions, please ask before pick up. At times, there may be a lot of crying and vocalizing by the goats, especially kids upon arrival at their new home. This is so hard to hear, we know. But is a possibility. Your new goat friend may be shy at first as well, everything is new to him or her.... Be patient, loving, gentle and encouraging. Some of our most skittish goats in the beginning have become our absolute friendliest favorites later.
Finally....We will assume that you've read all of this pertinent information and are in agreement. We want this to be a smooth and enjoyable process for you and for the goats! We are so thankful for your consideration of a Peculiar Pastures Farm goat, and can't wait to work with you!
